Spring isn’t far away and we are all probably still feeling the effects of overindulgence at Christmas and New Year, and in my case a busy month of birthdays in January! I am, however feeling full of the joys of nearly spring now and raring to go.
One of the things I find really helpful to set me on the right track is doing a fast day once a week… There is a lot of talk about fasting and I for one am a big fan. I lay out a few different juice detoxes in my book and they are a great re boot and leave you feeling pretty rejuvenated.
You could also try the 5:2. You eat HEALTHILY all the time, and on two days of the week you keep your calories down to 500, it has been very successful for weight loss and if it is done correctly then is a useful lifestyle choice.
I try to juice fast on a Monday, it is a great way to reboot if you have overindulged at the weekend! It sets me up for the week and reminds me to be mindful of what I eat, it also stops the cravings for salt and sugar!
If you are going to follow a juice fast for one day or three days make sure that you drink a lot of water and herbal teas Or make a vegetable broth with onion, celery, carrot and any other veg you fancy really, you put it all in a saucepan, cover with water and simmer for an hour, discard the veg and you will have a lovely clear broth.
