I love making my own bread, it is really satisfying and when you look at an ingredients list of shop bought bread you’ll feel glad you know exactly what has gone into your loaf! I use a machine, which makes it so easy, you literally chuck all the ingredients into the bowl and turn it on and 3-5 hours later you have a lovely smell in the air and fresh bread. You can also use the timer so that it is warm and fresh when you wake up!
However you choose to make your bread there are ways of doing it, so that it suits your diet. I like trying different flours, for this loaf I used rye flour, but you can try quinoa, buckwheat, brown rice or spelt flour to name a few. I also use Himalayan Crystal salt instead of normal salt, organic unrefined brown sugar or coconut sugar instead of white sugar, coconut oil instead of vegetable oil and ionised filtered water instead of tap. I add all sorts to my loaves including seeds such as chia, flax, pumpkin and sunflower, and whilst the cooking of them will lower the nutrient value there will still some and you will also get the fibre and they taste good! You can add dried fruits and nuts and whatever you like… try anything is my motto!
